Team competition

Challenge other teams in a team of 5, to see who will take home the trophy!
In the registration form, list your team name, and your team mates. You may register first, and choose later to form a team.

  • How it works:
    • You will be given points based on where you place in your weight class (open cat, not based on age cat)
    • 1st place: 12 points; 2nd place: 9 points; 3rd place: 8 points; 4th place: 7 points; 5th place: 6 points; 6th place: 5 points
    • The team with the most number of points based on how each member places in their weight category, wins!
    • Eg:
      • Team Member 1: 1st place (12 points)
      • Team Member 2: 3rd place (8 points)
      • Team Member 3: 5th place (6 points)
      • Team Member 4: 2nd place (9 points)
      • Team Member 5: No placing (0 points)
      • Total points: 35 points.
    • In the case of a tie between two teams having the same number of first places, the Reshel formula will be used to determine the winner starting with the first lifter on the team lists.  The Reshel points of all lifters on the teams will be totaled.  The team with the most Reshel points wins!

Please inform us of your team or if there are any changes, by 7 May 2017 via email, if you and your team mates did not indicate this in the registration form.

Records

  • National records
  • World records (Raw, with no sleeves or wraps)
  • World records (Raw with sleeves or wraps)
We follow the GPA world records in which records for raw (ie. literally nothing on the knees) and raw plus (ie. knee sleeves, knee wraps) are separated. While the records for Raw Plus can be daunting, we invite you to take a look at the World Records for the Raw (ie. nothing worn on knees at all) and see if you can beat them!

Rules

GPA Rules (Please refer here for the entire rule book.)
  • Singlet required
  • Any brand of equipment allowed
  • Knee sleeves only, no knee wraps allowed. Knee sleeves are not compulsory.
  • 24 hour weigh-in: For those competing on Saturday, weigh-ins on Friday are at Elevate Gym, 213 Upper Thomson Road.

Qualifiers

What makes the powerlifting community a special one is that we come together to support our fellow athletes and competitors. This wouldn't be possible without each and every one of us, and right now, we need you! Every meet needs spotters, loaders, movers, judges, emcees, and ancilliary admin support! Join us to experience what running a meet is like.

If you aren't competing, but still want to be a part of Schoolyard 2017, join us as a helper! Even if you're competing, we can use your help in packing up after the meet! Sign up here.

Q & A

Q: What happens if I cannot make weight?
A: You will compete with the same flight that you are registered in but categorized in the higher weight class, and will not be eligible for prizes in the higher weight class.

Eg. I'm supposed to be in the U82.5kg weight class, but I weigh in at 84kg. I will thus compete in the U90kg weight class, but in the same flight as the U82.5kg competitors, and I am not eligible for any prizes in the U90kg weight class.

Q: Can I change my weight class?
A: Yes. Please inform us by 2359 on 15 May 2017. After this deadline, there will be no changes in weight class allowed.

Q: Can I weigh in on the morning of the meet?
A: Yes.

Q: What is the latest I can weigh-in?
A: Right up till your flight commences, ie. before the squat.

Q: What happens if I can no longer participate?
A: Whether it's due to injury, sudden school events, or life events, we are afraid we are unable to offer any refunds should you need to pull out of the meet. However, please inform us asap, and you may find your own friend to take over your spot. However, we cannot accommodate any changes in t-shirt sizes as we pre-order the t-shirts.
